The focal point of this piece is a cross with lily-esque bar detailing. It is a direct reference to fleur de lis, otherwise known as the royal lily, another sought-after Gothic image. Not only does it add an artistic quality to the cross but also imbues it with nobility. One more symbol inherent in this piece is a large snake wrapping around the cross. While the latter represent spirituality, the serpent denotes sinfulness. The juxtaposition of these images has it own meaning – there is no saintliness without sins.This dark and meaningful pendant is cast in beautiful sterling silver. We generously provided it with a blackened coarse texture that is noticeable from far and wide. However, just like black is unimaginable without white, darkened silver can’t exist without light and polished silver. The shiny metal accentuates the cross’ edging and puts an emphasis on the snake’s scales.
