Island Stone Designs is owned and operated by Kyle Bennett. All products are crafted from stones found locally from the province of Newfoundland and Labrador. The creation process uses both modern power tools and traditional hand tools. Each piece is created with the goal of enhancing the natural beauty within the stone. As each stone is shaped and polished the intention is to add a delicate and fluid quality, juxtaposed to the heavy, rough nature of rocks.

Kyle studied Visuals Arts at Grenfell College, receiving his BFA in 2011. During this time, he learned how to work with stone as an artistic medium. In 2013 Kyle obtained a Genuine Prospectors certification from the Province. This gave him both the knowledge and exposure to the vast geology the province has.

Island Stone Designs has been a natural evolution through Kyle’s passion for geology, exploring the province, and his artistic practice. Island Stone Designs was established in the 2017, and is based out of Branch, Newfoundland.
