This rug was woven by Anaya and her two sisters.
Anaya and her sisters belong to a female-only weaving association located in Anzal, a village located 28km north of Tazenakht, the popular weaving town.
This rug was originally designed by a colleague in the association and Anaya and her sisters interrupted this design when making this new weave.
Made with 100% "live" wool, the artisans of the association carded, spun and dyed the wool all by hand. The base color is natural, undyed black wool and the abstract designs come from a blend of spices and plants such as saffron, henna, and pomegranate skin. The design of this pieces feel modern, thought it represents thousands of years of artistic tradition.
